Smudgy Circus and an Oddball

Today's post is playing double duty.
Lots of pictures to follow...

First up, is my weekly DT piece for Smeared Ink.
I have used the Circus Procession digi set for my
heart worm medicine box make-over.

The box started out like this.
And after a few coats of gesso and paint, I have the perfect background
for these wonderfully vintage circus images.

Quite the transformation, if I do say so myself.

I covered the pocket with dp and added the creepy clown. I popped a
tiny hat on his head to lend to his creepy vibe. I used the trapeze chicks
on a tag that fits right into the pocket.

I used a Tim Holtz ATC sized embossing folder to make the ticket.
After randomly coloring it with fired brick and mustard seed distress inks,
I ran it over a Versamark pad, hitting all the raised bits, and then
clear embossed it to give it some shine and stability. Oh, and I added some
of my new Paprika Stickles on the edges for some sparkle.
I am loving the new Stickles colors!

Look! My very first hand made tassel!
I used some red and white baker's twine, and a YouTube video
to make the tassel.

This is the little insert box. I like it.

This guy gets a hat, too!
What circus is complete without specimens and freaks?

I popped this on the back of the box, because it was too large to go
anywhere else. The bat is from the "A Little Bit Batty" digi set.
I added the wording myself in Gimp.

I'd like to enter this box makeover in the following challenge(s):

And now for something a little different.

I have been stalking this artist (Lizzie Love), and her woefully sad looking
big eyed girls. I was having a hard time deciding which image to
buy from her Oddball Art Co. Etsy shop, and then she came out with a line of darker
images, and I was in love! She's called, Big Eye Zombie Girl Image No. 49.
I colored her with Copics using bright colors, trying to keep her girly looking.

I used some spider web die cuts and a TH die cut spider. Sorta looks like
she's fighting the spider off using her umbrella.

I added some ribbons to keep in the theme of
"Ripped to Ribbons" at Haunted Design House.
And it made it girly to keep with the theme of Girly and Glam.
This is about as girly as I can get.

May Monster Madness 2014

MMM2014
May Monster Madness
is upon us!!
It's the one day of the year that we pay special homage to the monsters
we love so very much.
Being that I celebrate monsters and all things creepy everyday,
things may look like business as usual.

My homage is more of a miscellaneous monster montage...

Mad scientist lab experiment monsters, sculpted from polymer clay.

Monster Artist Trading Card

Nightmare Monster montage from my first Comic Con convention this year.

The gang's all here!

Can you name everyone?

Troll tooth specimen, made from polymer clay.

Custom wedding card I made for some friends who got married
on Friday the 13th.

My small collection of Mythos Buddies.

Zombie themed ATCs.

A small portion of my Monster-y collectables.

My favorite project!
The House that Cthulhu Built!

Sculpted from polymer clay, and various mediums were used to
achieve the varied textures on the pre-made birdhouse.

My new favorite projects are to alter doll baby heads.

She may be sweet, but she's still a monster...

My Frankie collectible doll.
I also have a Creature doll, too!

Sculpted relief of a werewolf.

And lastly, a Zombie Kitteh ATC.
Who can resist the charms of the Zombie Kitteh?

 Thanks for dropping by today.
Hope you enjoyed my segment of
May Monster Madness

Smeared Ink Monthly Blog Hop

Behold!
My Altered project for the Monthly DT hop for
Smeared Ink.
My husband always asks me, "Why are you saving this?".
And I always tell him, "I'll know when the time is right."
After ruining my original DT project in the eleventh hour, I remembered that
I had saved this box that was perfect for altering.
The little box is an insert that fits inside of the larger box, but I didn't get
quite that far.

After a coat of black gesso, and a coat of metallic black acrylic paint,
this little box was starting to take shape.
I chose to use the Circus Procession set for this project.

I played around with this finger die cut from TH. I used some Distress Paints,
which I overheated, to create the corroded look.

Had to add the diver. So vintage and fun.

I used the pinwheel image with a brad in the center of the cool spiral.
I also added the verbiage from the set using Gimp.

I used my favorite crackle effect on the scroll and wave that are also
included in this awesome digi set.

That's it for me, for now.
I do plan to finish the box, but I haven't been to sleep yet,
so I'll have to save the rest for another time.

Please join us for the hop.
Here is blogroll for your hopping convenience.

That new rubber smell....

Today is the blog hop for
Smeared Ink's new rubber stamp release!!
Let me tell you, these new stamp sets are pretty awesome!!
They are available exclusively, as the June featured sets through the
They will only be released in rubber.
(Click the link above to find out all the details of this exclusive
rubber club.)

My first project features the seahorses from The Abyss set.
I colored them with Copics, fussy cut them out, and adhered them to the
insides of the painted coffin box with gloss medium.

For the lid of the coffin box, I frosted it entirely with modeling paste, and
added some shells and shell fragments. Then it was painted with black gesso.

After it dried, I added layers of acrylic color to highlight the textures
of the modeling paste and the shells. Lastly, I added some
Inka Gold Metallic Rub in green/yellow to make it really shine
and pop.

The entire box received the same treatment.

I'd like to enter this box in the following challenge(s):

Remember: If you like these images, they are only available through the

My next project features an awesome image from the other
featured set for June called, "Winged Things".

She is gorgeous! Love those lips!

I am really happy with how this card came together.
I used some KaiserCraft 13th Hour paper for the background,
and there is even a drippy goo edge on the bottom of the image,
to mimic what is dripping off of her wings. But it looks as if it's
hiding from the camera right now. Hmmm....

I used the Spellbinders Heraldry set, finally. I've had that thing for at least a year or longer.
The winged shield looks perfect backing the Winged Things sentiment.

Just one more look...

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
